Directed panspermia is a branch of the panspermia hypothesis that proposes that microorganisms were deliberately distributed throughout the Universe. It was first proposed by Iosif Shklovsky and Carl Sagan (1966), then elaborated on by Francis Crick and Leslie Orgel (1973), that life on Earth may have been deliberately seeded by extraterrestrial intelligence.[1]
